Privacy Policy

Restaurant Roulette ("the App") is developed by Larry Williamson. This policy describes how the App collects, uses, and shares information.

Information We Collect

Location Data

The App uses your device's location to find nearby restaurants. Your location is sent to Google's Places API to perform searches. Location data is not stored on our servers or shared with any other party. A generalized geographic identifier (geohash) is included in anonymous analytics events to support aggregate trending features.

Usage Data (Analytics)

The App uses Firebase Analytics to collect anonymous usage data, including:

• App interactions (spins, screen views, button taps)
• Generalized location (geohash, approximately 3-mile precision)
• App and device metadata (OS version, device model, app version)

This data is not linked to your identity. We do not collect names, email addresses, phone numbers, or any personally identifiable information. We do not call Analytics.setUserID().

Advertising

The App displays ads served by Google AdMob. On first launch, the App requests your consent for ad personalization through your platform's privacy framework: Apple's App Tracking Transparency (ATT) on iOS, or Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP) on Android. If you grant consent, your device's advertising identifier (IDFA on iOS, Advertising ID on Android) may be used by ad networks for ad personalization. If you decline, ads are still shown but are not personalized.

AdMob may collect:

• Device advertising identifier (IDFA on iOS, Advertising ID on Android — only with your consent)
• IP address (used for approximate location and fraud prevention, not stored by Firebase Analytics)
• Ad interaction data (impressions, clicks)

In-App Purchases

The App offers a one-time purchase to remove ads. Purchase transactions are handled entirely by the platform store: Apple through StoreKit on iOS, or Google Play Billing on Android. We do not collect or store any payment information.

Data Stored on Your Device

The following data is stored locally on your device and is not transmitted to any server (except where noted above):

• Favorite and blocked restaurants
• Spin history (last 20 results)
• User ratings
• Interaction scores (for personalized Top Picks)
• Filter preferences
• Ad-free purchase status

Community Trending Feature

Anonymous interaction events (which restaurants users view, get directions to, or order from) are aggregated across all users by geographic area to power the "Trending" feature. This aggregation uses only restaurant identifiers and generalized geohash locations. No individual user data is identifiable in the aggregated results.

Third-Party Services

The App uses the following third-party services, each with their own privacy policies:

• Google Places API — restaurant search
• Firebase Analytics — anonymous usage analytics
• Google AdMob — advertising
• DoorDash — delivery deep links
• Uber Eats — delivery deep links
• Grubhub — delivery deep links

Children's Privacy

The App is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.

Data Retention

Analytics data is retained by Firebase according to Google's standard retention policies. Locally stored data remains on your device until you delete the App or clear its data.

Your Choices

• Location: You can revoke location access at any time in your device settings — iOS Settings > Privacy & Security > Location Services, or Android Settings > Apps > Restaurant Roulette > Permissions.
• Ad Personalization: On iOS, change your ATT preference in iOS Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking. On Android, change your consent choice via the privacy options shown in the app.
• Analytics: Analytics data is anonymous and cannot be linked back to you.
• Local Data: Uninstalling the App removes all locally stored data.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date.
